August rode his Hap Jacobs log to high acclaim throughout the '60s, and his loose-limbed, controlled style became a benchmark of California Cool. Now familiar to a whole new generation thanks to ESII, August runs a thriving surfboard company, splitting his time between Huntington Beach and Costa Rica.
