What format are the video files that I download encoded in?
The downloadable files are typically encoded specifically for the intended playback device. Files downloaded in iTunes are encoded in the lowest common denominator format that is compatible with the 5th Generation Video iPod (MPEG-4 H.264 640x480 at 1500kbps inside a QuickTime wrapper).
